Herbs for Health Class

Saturday, April 4th @ 2-3:30pm

Location: The Robin’s Nest

Discover the everyday benefits of herbs and how to incorporate them into your routine in this approachable, informative class. Herbs for Health explores the connection between plants and well-being, with a focus on practical, easy-to-use herbs you can grow and use at home.

Led by Valarie Jarvis, RN, BSN, Durham County Master Gardener, and Herbalist, this class will introduce a variety of common culinary and medicinal herbs and their traditional uses. You’ll learn how to grow and harvest herbs successfully, along with simple ways to prepare and use them– whether in teas, infusions, or other everyday applications.

This class is designed to be accessible for beginners while still offering helpful insights for more experienced gardeners. You’ll leave with inspiration, foundational knowledge, and ideas for bringing herbs into your daily life in a natural, meaningful way.

Come curious and ready to explore the world of herbs and their role in supporting your overall wellness.

Instructor: Valarie Tina Jarvis, RN, BSN, Master Gardener, Herbalist

Valarie is a dedicated holistic health advocate with over 20 years of experience as a geriatric nurse, specializing in long-term care and serving as Director of Nursing for nearly a decade. A third-generation farmer and Master Gardener, she co-founded Jireh Family Farm in Durham, NC, where she applies her expertise in herbalism to develop medicinal herbs and teach hands-on workshops on natural remedies like teas, tinctures, and fire cider. Inspired by her brother’s battle with colon cancer, Valarie integrates her nursing background with holistic nutrition and sustainable farming to promote wellness through organic, homegrown solutions.

Fee is $15/person; includes a small gift and a coupon to shop at the garden center.

PAYMENT AT TIME OF REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to hold your spot.
