Sunday, May 3rd @ 1-2pm
Location: The Robin’s Nest
Transform your garden into a vibrant, buzzing sanctuary for the creatures that keep our ecosystem thriving. This class is designed to help you look at your garden through the eyes of the wildlife that depends on it. We will feature common Piedmont pollinators, from our native bees and delicate butterflies to the high-energy hummingbirds that frequent our yards. We’ll explore the pollination process, as well as the specific life cycles and nutritional needs of these vital species. Understanding these rhythms is the secret to moving beyond a “pretty” garden to a truly functional, life-sustaining one.
Whether you are starting with a blank slate or looking to enhance an established landscape, you’ll leave with a curated list of native plants that provide high-impact support for our local winged friends. You will gain the foundational knowledge needed to foster a bird- and bee-friendly habitat right in your own backyard, ensuring your garden is a place where nature can truly flourish. Come ready to learn how a few intentional choices can make a world of difference for our local environment.
Fee: $15/person; includes small gift and coupon to shop at the Garden Center.
Instructor: Jeanne Arnts is a Durham County Extension Master Gardener and NC Journeyman Beekeeper and has certificates in Native Plants from the NC Botanical Garden and Bird Friendly Habitat Committee of the New Hope Bird Alliance
