Landscape Purchasing Assistant


For Garden’s Sake is a family-owned garden center and landscaping company, in operation since 1999. We are continually growing, and offer customers a one-stop shop for plants, landscape design/installation, and lawn maintenance services.

We are seeking a Landscape Purchasing Assistant to support the Landscape Operations Assistant/Buyer and provide seamless preparation for all our residential landscape installation projects. This person’s mission is to make sure we have the right product in the right place at the right time; he/she is playing a vital role in making our clients’ landscape dreams come true. This person is comfortable with every day being different, flexible to changing plans and shifting priorities, and great at multitasking and handling several projects at once. He/she is willing to jump in to assist with any task, even when that means learning new skills and technology.

This is a PART-TIME position, 25 – 30 hours a week. Schedule is generally Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm, but may require occasional shifts in days or hours. Pay starts at $17/hour, based on experience.

  • Order supplies, unload trucks, sort inventory
  • Maintain organization of supply shed, track inventory, keep materials stocked
  • Care for plants in inventory and prune as needed
  • Manage 811 service calls – place and track requests
  • Prepare warranty and client follow-up paperwork – gather documents, request plant purchases, schedule
  • Prepare for jobs – check inventory, stage and tag plants/stone, gather and organize all materials, set up light fixtures
  • Update designs and job files with changes throughout project
  • Facilitate prompt and professional customer communication – check-ins/status updates, answer questions and concerns
  • Field emails to Division, Operations Assistant/Buyer, and Landscape Operations Manager
  • Drive to pick up some material orders and run errands as needed
  • Other support tasks as needed


  • REQUIRED: Valid driver’s license with no major MVR infractions
  • Strong plant identification knowledge of various trees, shrubs, and perennials
  • Ability to perform physical work in outdoor conditions, both hot and cold, and lift 50lbs or more
  • Strong communication skills and prior customer service experience
  • Organized, detail oriented, good multitasker, flexible
