Repotting Houseplants Bootcamp

March 9th @10am

It’s a great time of year to re-pot your houseplants!

Learn everything you need to know to up-pot and re-pot your plants for optimum health and growth in this lecture-based demonstration. Pruning tips will be discussed to improve the plants well-being as it thrives in its new pot!

The first 4 people to register will be able to bring a houseplant from home to be repotted in this demonstration! Look out for an email confirming your eligibility.

Fee is $15/person; includes a bench scraper.

Did you know that placing your houseplants outdoors for the summer will improve their health and appearance? Learn the best way to transition your plants outdoors to keep them happy and healthy! We will discuss the do’s and don’ts of this process and how to acclimate them back inside in the fall.

Mixology & Candle Making with Shiplap+Sage

March 14th @6:30-8:30pm

Location: The Robin’s Nest

Join us for a lovely evening of mixology & candle making! Shiplap+Sage will provide everything needed to make a custom-blended 16oz candle, including all-natural soy wax, essential oils & biosimilar fragrance, and expertise to guide in the process of building complex fragrance.  In addition to learning how to blend fragrances for maximum enjoyment, we will instruct regarding the history of & changes in the fragrance industry, share our own journey to find a clean/healthy alternative without sacrificing beautiful smells, and provide some helpful tips for longer lasting, cleaner burning candles.

Fee is $40/person; includes the mixology class & your 16oz candle, a snack, and a beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available).

Option: mixing a 2nd fragrance blend for another 16oz candle – $20 additional.

Silk Flower Spring Wreath

So happy to bring this class back by popular demand & we can’t think of a more perfect way to ring in spring other than making a personalized Silk Flower Spring Wreath for your front door! Using a grapevine wreath and design principles given by the instructor you will use greenery pieces, flowers and novelties to build your one-of-a-kind creation!

Fee is $55/person; includes all necessary materials and supplies, a beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available) and a scone.

Introduction to the Art of Bonsai

March 23rd @10am-2pm

Location: The Robin’s Nest

This engaging class is for those interested in learning about this fascinating horticultural art form. The class and hands-on workshop will teach the aesthetic aspects of classical bonsai along with the technical and horticultural fundamentals you’ll need to enjoy this wonderful hobby. The class will cover bonsai styles, design, pruning, wiring, container selection, potting, and care.

Fee is $75/person; includes all workshop materials you’ll need to create your very own bonsai, an introductory bonsai book, a detailed after care guide for your new tree, and light hors d’oeuvres.

Instructor: Ken Hallatt, bonsai artist, educator, and owner of Carolina Bonsai is past President of the Triangle Bonsai Society. With over 40 years of experience Ken has trained with many gifted, international bonsai artists and enjoys sharing this “growing art” with others.
