Need more time to shop? Well you’re in luck, because we are extending the Garden Center hours until 8PM!
The Potting Shed will be open and serving beverages and Sunset Slush until 8PM as well. Come and enjoy the ambiance on the patio and take in the sunset. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for seating – the patio tables go fast!

This presentation provides an introduction to gardening, covering what beginners need to know to start cultivating their own green spaces. From the basics of soil, sunlight, and water needs to the different types of gardens like vegetable, flower, and herb gardens. The presentation also includes practical tips for getting started, such as assessing gardening space, selecting suitable plants, planning garden layouts, and preparing soil. With insights into planting, care, common pests and diseases, and harvesting, this presentation equips beginners with the knowledge and confidence to embark on their gardening journey.
There is no fee for this class.

This engaging class is for those interested in learning about this fascinating horticultural art form. The class and hands-on workshop will teach the aesthetic aspects of classical bonsai along with the technical and horticultural fundamentals you’ll need to enjoy this wonderful hobby. The class will cover bonsai styles, design, pruning, wiring, container selection, potting, and care.
Fee is $75/person; includes all workshop materials you’ll need to create your very own bonsai, an introductory bonsai book, a detailed after care guide for your new tree, and light hors d’oeuvres.
PAYMENT AT TIME OF REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to hold your spot.

Instructor: Ken Hallatt, bonsai artist, educator, and owner of Carolina Bonsai is past President of the Triangle Bonsai Society. With over 40 years of experience Ken has trained with many gifted, international bonsai artists and enjoys sharing this “growing art” with others.

Celebrate spring with the Chapel Hill Garden Club’s 14th biennial Garden Tour. The Tucked Away Treasures tour provides the rare opportunity to spend time in five beautiful private gardens as well as the North Carolina Botanical Garden. Proceeds support ongoing programs at the NCBG and the Chapel Hill Garden Club.
BuildSense, a local high-performance design and build company, is the presenting sponsor of the tour.
Fee is $30 in advance, $40 on tour day.

Bring joy and color to your outdoor space by creating a one-of-a-kind container that will last all summer! We’ll cover the thrill, fill, spill technique and discuss other design tips to create a gorgeous container! You’ll also learn how to best care for your container to keep it thriving through the hot summer months!
Fee is $65; includes all necessary materials and supplies and a complimentary beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available!).
